It is imperative that every business have a set of guidelines to manage health, safety and the environment.
At Sur International, we make it a point to share our HSE policy with our employees and train them in those areas that are vital to their line of work.
Wherever required, because of the large volume of work that we take on, we make sure that all of our work is first HSE compliant, and if we are unable to meet that requirement, partner with external HSE providers to ensure that our work does meet the rigorous safety standards we set for ourselves.
Before we begin any project, we conduct a suitable and necessary assessment of risks that the sites can pose to our employees health and safety, as well as incidental accidents that could occur to others as a result of our work, and then take steps to ensure that those who do come near or into our areas of work are provided with the correct safety measures.
We often consult our workers to obtain their perspective on how their work affects their health and safety, how we can control risks together, and how we can best inform and train our teams. We believe that our employees are often the best resources to approach when it comes to updating or setting our HSE policies and conducting regular feedback surveys.
Training for HSE programmes includes awareness, fire extinguisher usage, JSAs, screen assessments, handling of tools, noise protection, respiratory aid, waste management, rigging awareness, electrical safety, construction safety and environmental awareness among others.
